HOW WE WORK
ASAP is a one-of-a-kind resource center. Whether it’s providing scholarships for students to attend athletic and academic summer camps all over the United States, offering one-on-one college counseling and academic mentoring, or motivating students with a hug and a healthy snack, ASAP emphasizes the kind of holistic support that students need to succeed.
DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
Many students come in for an apple and leave with advice on how to keep their grades up, or an updated. ASAP is open Monday through Friday from 9:30am until 5pm, creating a reliable resource for students during the day. In addition to staff, students can meet with academic mentors and college counselors by appointment or, in some cases, on a drop-in basis. To make an appointment, call us or send an email to Amanda.
DURING THE SUMMER
ASAP sends more than 100 students to summer camps and programs all over the country every year. From wilderness adventures in the Sierra Nevada to rigorous academic programs at Brown University to overnight sports camps throughout the Bay Area, our students have many opportunities to gain new experiences during their summer break. Some past programs students have attended include sports camps at UC Berkeley, Columbia University, Cornell, etc.
DURING SENIOR YEAR
We offer individualized assistance in navigating college and scholarship applications, tailored college counseling with professionally trained volunteers, advice on financial aid and personal statements, preparation for college and scholarship interviews, and so much more! Make sure you sign up for an appointment early in the fall so we can ensure you’re on the right track. To make an appointment, call us or send an email to Amanda.
For seniors admitted to college, we provide college transition assistance through workshops, one-on-one support, and mentoring. Our new college mentorship program matches older ASAP alumni to freshmen beginning college to help navigating. We want to make sure students have enough support throughout college, beyond just getting there.
Students, keep in touch — we want to know how you’re doing! And don’t forget, you’re always welcome to visit us at ASAP.
